Clinics & Services

Asthma Clinic

All patients with Asthma should have an annual review with the Practice Nurse. Please ask the Receptionist for available appointments. Remember to bring any inhalers that you use so that the nurse can demonstrate how to use them correctly.

Baby Clinic

The Baby Clinic is specifically for babies 6 week checks by the doctor, and for childhood immunisations by the nurse.

The Baby Clinic is solely for babies and it is unfortunately not possible for mothers to have their 6 week post-natal check at the same time. Please book a separate appointment for this.

Further advice about looking after your baby is available from the Health Visitor who has a regular clinic at Vale Drive Primary Health Centre or from NHS Choices.

Cervical Smear Tests and Contraception

Women can book an appointment with the nurse for a Well Woman Health Check which will include a cervical smear test if due and advice about breast self-examination. You can also discuss contraception and menopause issues. Additional information about Women’s health and contraception is available from NHS Choices.

Chaperones

If at any stage you feel that you would like to have a chaperone present during your consultation please mention this to the Receptionist or the Doctor. We have several members of staff who are trained to act as chaperones.

CHD (Heart disease) Clinic

Anyone with Heart Disease should attend this clinic with the nurse at least once a year. You will receive an annual invitation from the Appointments Clerk. Two weeks before your appointment you should arrange to have a fasting blood test so that the nurse can discuss the results with you when you come to the clinic.

COPD (Lung disease) Clinic

All patients with COPD should attend this clinic with the nurse at least once a year. An appointment will be sent to you by the Appointments Clerk. Please remember to bring your inhalers with you so that the nurse can demonstrate how to use them properly.

Diabetic Clinic

You should have an annual diabetic check which is covered by Long Term Conditions appointment. Please contact the practice if you have not been invited for your annual diabetic check.

Female Doctors

We have 3 female doctors at the surgery, a female nurse and a female health care assistant. If you would prefer to see a female doctor or nurse please mention this to the Receptionist when you book your appointment.

Flu Vaccination Clinic

The winter Influenza vaccinations are usually available from September until February.

People at particular risk are:

  • anyone aged 65 or over

all patients with:

  • asthma
  • COPD (lung disease)
  • CHD (heart disease)
  • diabetes
  • kidney disease
  • liver disease
  • stroke/TIA or multiple sclerosis

and patients who are:

  • pregnant
  • very overweight (BMI>35)
  • carers of an elderly or disabled person
  • living in residential or nursing homes
  • NHS staff

If you are in one of the high-risk groups listed above please also check whether you have previously had the Pneumonia vaccination which could also be given at the same time. The Pneumonia vaccination only needs to be given once.

Flu clinics are for vaccinations only and other health matters cannot be dealt with in these appointments.

Minor Surgery Clinic

The Minor Surgery Clinic is held monthly by Dr Dee for steriod injections. Please contact reception for more information.

Smoking Cessation Clinic

If you need help to stop smoking you can request an appointment. Further information can be obtained from the NHS web-site or by calling the NHS Smoking Quitline on 0800 169 0169 (freephone).

Travel Immunisations Clinic

The nurses provide up to date foreign travel advice and immunisations. Visit the Travel Immunisations page for further information about appointments and the Travel Immunisations form which must be completed before your appointment.

Each person requiring Travel Immunisations will need a 20 minute appointment with the nurse. Please note that there may be a charge for some of your immunisations. You will also need to complete this form. If you arrive to the appointment without this form you will not be seen. Travel Clinic Form

Evening and Weekend appointments

This practice is part of a network of local GP surgeries which are working towards making GP appointments available from 8.00am to 8.00pm for Barnet residents. The name of your local network is Barnet Federated GPs and they have arranged eight Hub Practices in Barnet where appointments are available to be seen by a local GP in evenings and weekends.

Appointment times:

  • Monday to Friday – 6.30pm to 8.00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday – 8.00am to 8.00pm
