Recent changes to how ADHD medication is prescribed at Addington Medical Centre.
Following updated NHS guidance and local prescribing policies, our GPs are unable to initiate or continue prescribing ADHD medication unless it is part of a shared care agreement with an NHS specialist service.
This means that if your diagnosis and treatment plan were made privately, we cannot automatically take over prescribing. If you are currently receiving ADHD medication from a private provider, you will need to continue obtaining your prescriptions directly from them, unless:
Your care is transferred to an NHS ADHD service, and a formal shared care agreement is in place.
We appreciate this may cause inconvenience or concern. If you would like to arrange a discussion with a GP about your next steps, please book a routine appointment with any of our GPs.
Prescribing by the practice for your ADHD medication will cease as of 1st March 2026. This gives you time to contact your private providers.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work within NHS safety and governance requirements.
