Routine Appointments
Routine 10 minute appointments can be booked with the doctor of your choice on the previous day for morning appointments, or up to a month in advance for evening appointments.
Urgent Appointments (5 minutes only)
Please tell the Receptionist if you feel you need an Urgent Appointment. These are quick 5 minute appointments which are reserved for problems that cannot wait until the following day. Urgent appointments may not be with your usual doctor. Please be advised that urgent appointment times sometimes run late.
We do not provide an Emergency Service. True emergencies should be seen in the nearest Accident & Emergency Department.
Extended Hours Service
Previously Addington Medical Centre offered a small number of early morning appointments between 7am and 8am on Mondays and Tuesdays.
From 1st October 2019 Addington will no longer be offering these appointments. Instead Barnet Federation will provide our extended hours service. These appointments will be in the morning or at the weekend at Longrove Surgery in High Barnet or St Andrews Medical Practice in Whetstone.
To book one of these appointments please contact reception.
Telephone Advice
If you want some advice from the doctor or nurse over the telephone contact the Receptionist to arrange the best time to call.
Text Reminders
We are now able to send a text reminder before your next appointment is due. Please make sure that we have your current mobile phone number.
Failure To Attend
Every week an average of 16 patients fail to attend booked appointments with the doctor or nurse. This wastes the equivalent of one doctor’s complete surgery (nearly 3 hours!). Please ensure that you always cancel your appointment if you cannot attend.
Nurses Appointments
The nursing team are available for:
Our nurses cannot do blood tests. Patients must arrange these with one of the hospital phlebotomy clinics.
Ear syringing is no longer available at the surgery. Patients who require ear canal clearance will be referred to a hospital Ear Nose and Throat clinic.
Clinics
As well as general surgery appointments we have a number of special clinics for specific medical problems. For more information on these visit our Services page.
Female Doctors
We have 3 female doctors at the surgery and 3 female nurses. If you would prefer to see a female doctor or nurse please mention this to the Receptionist when you book your appointment.
Chaperones
If at any stage you feel that you would like to have a chaperone present during your consultation please mention this to the Receptionist or the Doctor. We have several members of staff who are trained to act as chaperones.
Disabled Access
The surgery has a full range of facilities on the ground floor including a disabled access toilet, doctors room, and nurses treatment room. There is a small ramp to the front door suitable for wheelchairs. Access to the upstairs surgeries is by staircase only. If you are unable to manage stairs please inform the Receptionist that you require a consultation on the ground floor when you make your appointment.
